Operations Research Scientist

The Operations Research Scientist works alongside the PhD scientists who designed and developed the Solver AI optimization platform. The Operations Research Scientist works with Executive Management and Product Management to advance the company’s solutions through innovation and technological know-how. This role owns features from idea to live-on-site, as every BoldIQ engineer is a product manager and is responsible for advanced performance tuning for Solver’s advanced planning and scheduling applications. Using an active and practical approach, the Operations Research Scientist is an integral member of the complete customer solution team, driving real-world operational change in aviation, transportation, logistics, healthcare and more.

Responsibilities:

  • Working directly with BoldIQ experts in AI resource optimization science and using your hands-on experience with multiple heuristics methods, you will assist with developing leading solutions and services for advanced applications
  • Develop mathematical models and optimization scheduling algorithms for different business verticals
  • Tackle complex problems in usability, scalability
  • Develop maintainable, testable, quality code
  • Support the company’s strategic direction, development and future growth.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of software development experience with a MS or PhD (preferred) in Operations Research, Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • Ability to manage and solve real-world operational problems
  • Good communication skills
  • An inherent drive to solve problems, collaborate with others and mentor team members
  • Meticulous and detail oriented
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth, ever changing, small-company environment

Preference will be given to applicants with:

  • 5+ years of software development experience building high performing, scalable applications
  • Proficiency in C/C++, including highly efficient software implementation of optimization algorithms and experience with CPLEX and/or Gurobi
  • Working knowledge of Visual Studio.
